Positive thoughts & Positive affirmations

Hello my friends, and welcome to the Discover Your Personal Power Podcast, the show to help you live a life filled with peace, purpose, and power. My goal on this podcast is to give you something fun and meaningful to make your day a little brighter. I want to help you find your light and your personal power within.
My name is Peggy Moore and I am a wife and mother of over 30 years, a Nurse for over 20 years a Certified Professional Coach and wellness advocate.
I want you guys to know that I get it. Sometimes being human can be hard. But the good news is we are in this together. We all get to choose how we want to show up in this world. and we can create the life of your dreams.
Hello my friends, I hope you are doing so well. Are you guys excited for summer? I live in Okinawa Japan and it is hot, but I love it. I have been able to get out on the water, my husband and I bought a scooter/motorcycle and we have been able to take it on some adventures. And life is amazing. I am going to the US in 2 weeks to spend the summer with grandbabies and my kiddos and life is good. How are you doing? I hope you are enjoying this time of year as spring is evolving into summer, the kids will be out of school and we can go to the beach and the park and have campfires and all the fun. I hope you guys are having so much.
I have been working with some amazing clients in Discover Your Personal Power Coaching. I am learning so much, they are learning so much and we are having so much fun. I would love to have you join us. Summer is coming and what a great time to do something for you. Take some time to work on a goal or get rid of some negative thought patterns and enjoy the light, the sunshine of summer. Head over to my website at peggymoorelifecoaching.mykajabi.com
and sign up for a free discovery call and I will get you hooked up.
I also just started an amazing Facebook group called Personal Power Wellness, Nourishing women mind, body, and soul. I will be putting snippets of the podcast on there letting you know when workshops are coming up. Talking about natural wellness and essential oils and having a lot of fun in a community of women who help fix each other's crowns.
So I have been thinking a lot about my “Discover Your Personal Power" coaching program and my vision for what I want to create or bring into the world. My goal is to help other women, to empower other women by helping them discover their own unique strengths, talents, abilities, and power within them and have the confidence to live the life of their dreams. To live with integrity and authenticity and intentionality and to be comfortable with their own life.
I think as I talk with clients and other women, so many women are not comfortable with their own life, They are working so hard to meet the needs of their husbands, their children, their employers, even their friends, that they kind of get lost and I love when we work together and there is the ah-ha moment when they realize, it is OK for me to have my own dreams, my own life, my ambitions, my own desires, and my own dreams. And by taking the time to nurture that and recognize that brings them so much confidence and strength that they are able to be better mothers, wives friends, and employees.
So, let's talk about empowerment and discovering your own personal power. What does that mean to you?
So first I went to my all-knowing friend Siri and asked her to find me the definition of empowerment. And she tapped into her google catalog and found this.
empowered is having the knowledge, confidence, means, or ability to do things or make decisions for oneself.
And then I looked at the word power. Power within the word empowerment is to have the ability to do or act. To have the confidence and the strength or the power to make decisions, take action, stand strong and live a life of peace and purpose.
The opposite would be feeling disempowered and google says that disempowerment means to deprive one of power, power, authority, or influence. to cause (a person or a group of people) to be less likely than others to succeed: to prevent (a person or group) from having power, authority, or influence. When someone feels disempowered they have no choice or control over the outcomes in their life.
So Discovering your personal power coaching is about helping women recognize they do have a choice. In Discover your personal Power, we teach that empowerment, or that personal power within us, drives our outcomes and our results. And that power begins with our thoughts. It begins with managing our mind or training our brain to help us create the life of our dreams. Our thoughts create our emotions which drive our behavior which gives us our results. It sounds like a logical process, right, but it's hard. It can be difficult to manage our brains and thoughts.
We have all been programmed to have thoughts and beliefs that we may not even be aware of. Our upbringings, education, relationships, and social opinions have taught us different biases and often fill the chatter in our heads. We have all been influenced by the people and systems around us. These unconscious thoughts and beliefs affect how we live our lives and how we show up in our lives and in the world.
The first step is always awareness. How often do we go along in our lives, day by day, week by week, not even really aware of what we are doing? Allowing our emotions to just rely on autopilot. Living our lives in a daze.
In order to discover our personal power, we have to stop and recognize what is happening. We need to practice self-awareness. Self-awareness requires self-examination to become more aware of your strengths and weaknesses regarding your well-being). Be aware, though, that an honest, non-judgmental self-analysis isn’t easy. We tend to berate ourselves for our failings or fantasize about how great we are when neither is actually the case. We all have a unique mix of “good” and “bad” traits, but we are largely unaware of them. In order to self-reflect objectively, we need to quiet our minds and open our hearts, forgiving ourselves for our imperfections and offering ourselves kudos, for all the challenges and obstacles we have overcome in our life.
I am reading this amazing book called What Happened to you. It is with Oprah Winfrey and Dr. Bruce Perry. Our brain has pathways that have been forged for years.
The Brain
Dr. Bruce Perry. … describes it like this. Our brain is like a four-layered cake, At the top is the cortex, the most uniquely human part of our brain. This part of the brain is responsible for speech, language, thinking, and planning, our values, and beliefs are stored there. When we are using this part of our brain we can think about the past and think about the present.
Now the bottom of the brain or the brainstem. This part of the brain is less complex. It manages mostly regulatory functions like body temperature, breathing, and heart rate. This part of the brain does not recognize time. We sometimes call this our primitive brain, the part of the brain that lives in the moment and reacts on instinct.
All the input from around us that comes in from our senses, like our vision, hearing touch, smell first goes through our brain stem, the lower part of the brain. When it comes into the brain stem, those signals are processed by matching them to previously-stored experiences or very established pathways in our brain. That part of our brain senses then reacts.
It can take a minute for the prefrontal cortex to catch on and start to look at the input a little more rationally. But before that input gets to the higher part of the brain, your stress response may already be activated and put on high alert. You may start to have those feelings of anxiety, overwhelm, fear or discomfort. When the input finally gets to the higher part of the brain
This is all natural
Our brain is actually organized and designed to act before we think. It is what keeps us safe. So when I say manage our brain. We are using our higher brain. We have to allow that minute of discomfort to kind of flow through us as our higher brain catches up. And this is how we manage our minds. We can train our brains to create a life of empowerment. We know that we can manage our brain to have the confidence and the strength or the power to make decisions, take action, stand strong and live a life of peace and purpose.
As we become more self-aware, we can use our prefrontal cortex and train our brain to choose the pathways that serve us better? What are the thoughts that we can choose to serve us better?
These are some thoughts I came up with.
- I am worthy, I am enough. I add value to the world
- I have the right and the ability to choose
- I know my values and I know how I want to show up in the world
- I have amazing resources and opportunities to achieve my dreams.
- I control my results and my outcomes
- I am able to tap into my power, my intuition, and my light to make a difference in the world.
I am worthy, I am enough, I add value to the world.
You add value to the world because of who you are. You add value to your family, your friends, your community, and to society as a whole. You are enough and you are right where you need to be.
Recognizing your self-worth means being compassionate with yourself, allowing yourself to be human.
Eliminating the word “should” be removed from your vocabulary. Should come from a place of judgment. There are no shoulds. Shoulds are wishy-washy. Turn the shoulds into could or can or I will. I will do this or I will not do that. No judgment, no guilt. Use your power to choose and just do or do not, It is your choice.
I have the right and the ability to choose and determine the choices for my life.
You can recognize that all the outside voices and influences are just that, they are outside. You get to choose who you want to be and how you want to show up in the world. You get to decide how you want to feel, whether it be happy, content, or joyous and you can solve for that feeling. You can construct the thoughts that will help you to feel that way. But
You also recognize that all feelings are normal. Don’t be bothered by feelings of sadness, grief, anxiety, worry, anger, or fear. Recognize that these feelings are normal and will come and go. Everything has its opposite. Learn to lean in and feel those feelings and solve for a better feeling if that is what you choose.
I know my values and I know how I want to show up in the world. When you know your values, core beliefs, and goals, you can live life with strong intention and purpose. You show up for yourself, honoring your own needs, desires, and intuitions. You make choices that honor your emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual needs as they arise. You may choose to yes or you may choose to say no, recognizing that opportunities and resources are limitless in becoming the person you want to be.
You know that the best you can give the world is a woman who knows her worth and chooses to show up in a way that honors that.
I have amazing resources and opportunities to achieve my dreams and goals.
As children, we think we can conquer the world, but somewhere between childhood and adulthood, our enthusiasm and natural inclinations to dream big are squashed. Parents and teachers start imposing their own beliefs—about what we can and can’t do in life—upon us.
Knowing and understanding your personal power means that you know to expose yourself to different situations and push through things that may be uncomfortable, taking on challenges and embracing new opportunities. Having confidence in yourself, allows you to accomplish amazing things.
I control my results and my outcomes. Remember our results are created by our actions or behaviors. Behaviors are driven by emotions or feelings and emotions and feelings are created by thoughts. We have the power to choose our thoughts. Our thoughts create our feelings, which drive our behavior and our behavior gives us our results.
If you want the same old results, then go ahead with the same old thinking, but if you want to see some different results in life, start with your thoughts. You have the ability to change.
Know that by doing a little thought work and adjusting your thoughts, you can create new feelings and behaviors that create the change or the results you want to see in your life.
As you become more self-aware, you recognize and accept responsibility. Recognizing that choices create results.
That self-awareness, recognizing that if we want different results, we need to think differently. We may need to identify the thoughts in our head holding us back or the limiting beliefs that keep us from creating the life we want. We first have to recognize and identify the thoughts that are keeping us stuck or from not getting the results that we want.
I am able to tap into my power, my intuition, and my light to make a difference in the world.
We can use our unique talents and abilities to create change and equality for all.
Sharing your talent and your passion with others is one of the best ways to de-stress and boost your self-esteem. When you help someone else achieve a goal, you are also helping yourself. Have you ever noticed how great you feel when you have done a good deed for someone else—especially if you volunteered without the person asking? It is gratifying to be able to share a talent or a skill that you may perform well with others.
There are always opportunities for sharing your talents with others. Sharing these talents with others helps you reconnect and re-assess yourself. Stress is reduced by the inner peace that comes with having a purpose greater than oneself. It is common in the frenzied pace of life today, to get caught up in the details of your specific tasks. But there are larger goals that can be accomplished by working together with others. Projects can be completed when we pool our talents and resources. The impact of sharing talents and passions with others can have life-altering effects.
I am able to tap into my power, my intuition, and my light to make a difference in the world.
There are so many tips and tricks we can use to help train the pathways in our brain and I have talked a lot about them on the podcast and in discovering your personal power coaching. But let's talk about what I think is one of the most powerful, empowering ways you can train your brain to live the life of your dreams, to live a life of peace, purpose, and power.
The fastest route to feeling empowered is actually to come up with some thoughts that help you feel that emotion really easily. Positive thoughts are basically positive affirmations.
Did you know that studies have shown that positive self-affirmation can decrease health problems related to stress?
Research shows that the power of boiling down positive thoughts to simple, repeated phrases rewires the brain and boosts psychological resources. In fact, this simple tool can help change your life.
Positive affirmations are thoughts that create emotions. Positive affirmations are sentences you repeat to yourself on a regular basis until your subconscious mind accepts them as true. Over time they help you condition your mind to experience positive emotions such as confidence or gratitude.
Positive affirmations create strong emotions. And emotions are powerful, emotions are what drives behavior.
Everything we do or choose not to do is because we want some kind of emotion. We want to feel happy, have fun, and feel loved. Emotions are powerful and you can tap into the best emotions by training your brain with positive affirmations.
Positive affirmations help you to re-train your brain because you are choosing to think certain thoughts that will create positive results for your future.
Positive affirmations create a focal point. The eye sees what the brain tells it to right. If you are looking for all the bad things of 2020, you can find them, but if you're looking for all the good things of 2020 you can find them too. And which one is going to help you feel the best. Which one represents the life you want to live? Which one brings you closer to the life of your dreams.
One of my favorite ways to use positive affirmation in my life is to think about and voice all the things I am grateful for. Some people may use a gratitude journal and write them down. I like to say them in my car on my way to work. I am grateful for my life. I am grateful for the beautiful world I live in. I am grateful to have a job that I love. I am grateful for my body, that I can move and that my body knows just how to breathe and beat my heart without me even having to think about it. Spending some time in gratitude every day brings me emotions of love and hope.
I love starting my day by being grateful from a place of abundance.
Next, we can create the life of our dreams as we use positive affirmation to create intentions for our life. Positive affirmations are just positive thoughts. Thoughts that you choose for your life.
Remember the ones we talked about
- I am worthy, I am enough.
So the next time that you're feeling stuck or disempowered, think about how you can get back to empowerment. Use the thoughts or positive affirmations to help you train your brain.
